In Science we created DNA models made out of twizzlers, marshmellows,and toothpicks. The Twizzlers represent the sugar/phosphate backbone, the marshmallows are the chemical bases (green: Guanine, pink: Cytosine, yellow: Adenine, orange: Thymine) and the tooth picks are the bonds between the bases and the backbone.This activity helped me understand how DNA looks and how ‘sugar’ is in the twizzlers and the twizzlers are the ‘sugar’/phosphate backbone.
