Somthing I found hard this week was working with negative exponents. Now I think I have a pretty good understanding of how to fix this. Basicly you move the base and the negative exponent either up or down depending where they started, this switches it to a positive exponent but does not change the base. If The base is negative it stays negative.
How to keep myself safe
-Ask questions when I don’t understand something
-say no if a task seems unsafe
-always come prepared for my job (helmet, steel toed boots, extra…)
How to keep others safe
-tell someone if there doing something wrong or that looks unsafe
-make sure new workers are being trained and informed correctly
-make sure my job doesn’t put someone else doing there job in danger
My favourite lesson this week was learning how to simplify exponents with the same base. If you are multiplying you add the exponents, and if your dividing you subtract the exponents. I find this very simple and helpfull.
This week we learned about mixed an entire radicals. Turning mixed radicals into entire radicals was my favourite part of the lesson because I found it pretty easy.
1. The problem with our boat was that the sides here to shallow
2. The boat will hold at least 50 pennies
3. Our boat only held 34 pennies
4. Our thinking was that the straws would make the boat float, and the sticks would support the rest of the weight.
5. I would make it bigger and have our sides taller so the water doesn’t seep over.
This week the lesson that stood out to me the most was using number trees. I haven’t used number trees since grade 7 and I remember not understanding them. Number trees are used to break down a number into its prime factors.
