How did learning about different views help you understand how people in the past might have felt?

I think learning about different views helped me understand more about how people in the past felt because if I only learned one view I wouldn’t have the full story. For example, in class when we watched the movie Marie-Antionette, and we only saw her perspective it represented the revolutionaries just showing up and forcing these “innocent” people to leave their home. However, her perspective also showed that she didn’t really know what was going on while she was at Versailles. She wasn’t necessarily innocent, but she wasn’t as evil as she would be portrayed from a peasant’s perspective, and I wouldn’t be able to make that judgement without receiving multiple perspectives. As I mentioned the lower classes portrayed Marie-Antionette as the evil queen of France. This makes complete sense from where they were coming from. This girl at the top of the social hierarchy had everything and she was letting her citizens die. That is why it is important to see all sides of every story to have a full comprehension.
