3 Questions on Digital Footprint
How could creating a positive digital footprint to work in your favour?
Having a positive digital footprint could work immensely in my favour for multiple reasons. One main reason having a positive digital footprint could help me is applying for a job. Employers when hiring someone new tend to look at the possible employee’s digital footprint to get a sense of who that person is. When the employer looks up my name and sees videos/images of my academic accomplishments, volunteering or athletic success the general opinion of me will be good. They’ll believe I would fit well in the position. However, if what they came across was negative their opinion would change to, I would not be a good fit. Another reason having a positive digital footprint could benefit me is with sports. I play competitive volleyball, and I know that the coaches especially for their senior teams do quick background checks to see who will be representing them. If I post my positive results online and that is all they see I have no problem. If they came across any negative media, then there is a chance even if I am the better player they will take someone else instead.
What techniques around digital self-regulation could you use during class time that could contribute to academic success?
One technique for digital self-regulation I use during class time that contributes to my academic success is leaving my phone put away in my backpack and on silent mode. Without having my phone on my desk with the notifications on I am able to focus more on the task at hand instead of being distracted by my friends. When I have a problem with my work instead of going on my phone and ignoring it, I now make myself figure it out. Also having my phone away will never tempt me to be on it during lectures. A technique for digital self-regulation I could use is not having social media on my computer. Social media on the computer
, especially if notifications turned on, are just another way to be tempted to not focus. If I was receiving a text message every few minutes, or a comment on a post, even if I did not take action to reply my attention is stolen and my focus is broken.
How can artificial intelligence be used for positive outcomes in a school setting, meanwhile maintaining a sense of authenticity?
A way artificial intelligence can be used for a positive outcome in a school setting while still being authentic is asking for a summary. Asking for a summary of an article or a topic is still authentic because one would then use that as a starting point for research. As long as one does not use the given summary as their own it is a useful positive tool. Artificial intelligence can be the same as a Google search however it can be more effective by rounding up answers or probabilities for multiple websites, articles, and books. Even so one must make sure where the artificial intelligence is receiving its data. Many A.I out there are out of date or have less resources therefore it will not provide a completely truthful response.
