“Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” A great quote from Albert Einstein, to teach you that even if you do badly in one subject, you can be better in others. During a discussion in an English 9 class, we discussed what self-esteem is and how it effects your life and others in your life. Self-Esteem is something we can make or break, depending on our situation, we may decide to change due to peer pressure or simply looking cool in front of others. In my opinion, cool doenn’t matter, cool is simply a want, not a need. We may also change due to stressors such as expectations for school, keeping a relationship or simply what we think of ourselves. If you think you need to improve, then ask someone else, not yourself because you see yourself worse then others see you. To cope with these problems, some people like to use drugs and alcohol. Others decide to ditch school, because they want to enjoy themselves. The use of drugs could help one cope, but in the future, they will be unhappy because their health will be bad and they would be out of money to do anything about it. When a person decides to ditch school, it’s sometimes hard to come back because you would be so used to being free, that you wouldn’t want to go, but if you don’t come back, you won’t find a job very easily. You may not do good in a subject that everyone else is good at, but you shouldn’t go on thinking your bad at everything. When you know you are bad at something, find something else that you are good and compare yourself to that. As long as you be yourself, you should find a good group of friends to be with, that will help you along your way.
