Digital Footprint

How could social media be used positively?:

Social media are the platforms often useful for communicating with others and connecting with your family or friends easily wherever you travel. Businesses/Advertisement; Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, etc, often receive many advertisement requests and collaborate with different brands, Instagram made up to 20 Billion dollars from advertising revenue in 2019. Not only for social media itself, but they are also great platforms to start small or personal businesses. Tips/Motivations: social media are a huge platform for any type of information, but if we use it positively, we can learn more than we thought. I use social media often to get help if I want to learn or experience variety.

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples:

Digital Footprints are self-history tracks online or on social media. They can be uploaded by yourself, others, or governments. Digital footprints can be found easily by public viewers, so people must be careful of what they post. Digital footprints can be incredibly useful for getting a job or resume, such as recording your volunteering or work history. On the other hand, it might affect your future because of your mistakes or records of your past. For example, when applying for a new job, there might be a chance of getting rejected due to a record of your past or your behaviour on social media platforms.

Describe at least 3 strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe:
-Keep it Private: Keeping your social media account private prevents others from seeing your posts, and you can able certain people to see your social media.

-Create a strong password: The longer and more difficult the password is, it will protect your account from others trying to hack or get into your account. Not only social media but make sure to secure online records or other programs.

-Don’t post everything: On social media, you shouldn’t post every daily life post, instead, a few short and essential posts that make you proud. Posting more and more on social media will only let strangers know better about you, and it will be hard to keep all track of your digital footprints.

What strategies could you use to protect your own identity when using social media?:

Create fake information – Often social media asks for your birthday, age, name, and location. By creating a fake profile that doesn’t match your real identity, you can keep yourself away from others knowing your true identity.

What red flags or warnings would indicate that someone you are talking to online may be unsafe?:

When you are talking to people online, know who that person is. If they are asking for your personal information or the age gap between you and the person is big, that often is a red flag. Talk to people who suit your topics. If anyone talks about something off track, leave the conversation immediately!

What are some ways you can limit the amount of online content that you are constantly consuming?:
The only way to limit the amount of online content that you consume is to practice keeping your distance from your phone. Find hobbies or other activities to do! Such as sports or other physical activities. They will motivate you and you will have less time to spend on your devices
