The three widgets and plugins I added were Akismet, Calendar +, and AddThis Social Share.

Akismet is a very useful tool because it prevents spam and unwanted material from getting onto your site. In theory it should be one of the more useful widgets/plugins because of it’s ability to keep your blog clean and free of things you don’t want, but I haven’t gotten to see firsthand what it can do because there isn’t much incoming or outgoing activity on my blog at the moment. I strongly recommend this widget/plugin because of the general protection it should give to your blog.

Calendar + is a decent widget that can be used to sift through the posts on my blog in chronological order, and obviously it shows the current date, etc. It isn’t the most useful widget, but I recommend it based on practicality and it adds a nice aesthetic to the blog.

AddThis Social Share gives viewers of the blog the ability to share the page to other social media sites. It is a pretty common widget/plugin on most blogs these days because it gives the owner of the blog the ability to give some more publicity to their blogs, but it’s not for me. I’m not one to put myself all over social media, so depending on your interests, this widget/plugin may or may not be for you.
