Post Flying:
After doing the tests, the Basic Dart averaged 6.27 metres, The Bird, Bird is the word averaged at 8.35 metres, & the Sonic Jet averaged 6.54 metres.
The results did surprise me because I assumed that the Sonic Jet would be the highest due to the rating it has, being the “fastest plane.” A ten year old has gotten it up to 20 mph! For us, less than that. 2 things to factor in is the quality of the folds & the form, which would impact how the plane flies through the air.
What I learned:
I’ve learned that the design of the plane can play an influence on how it flies.
What I would do different:
I would try out different designs to see how other designs perform.
I would be more precise with the folds to reduce drag from wrinkles in the folds.
I would also see how the location & the amount of tape would influence flight performance.
