May 9th- Over the weekend I basically made a random piece- that is, a mug inspired by some others on tiktok with a bunch of eyes. So today in class, ive decided on making the Eye Mug a matching triad to another cup and a little cookie plate ( which I forgot to take a picture of) that I made last week. I think it’s important to mention that while transporting the mug from my house to the studio, a few complications happened- a bunch of things completely shattered, but at least some of the mug was spared (last picture). I don’t think this is quite the initial set back for I think I will just smooth over the edges and leave it as is.
May 16th- Over the last week I’ve been busy with making my scrafiggo tile. The three pieces were slow dried and bisked. I over-glazed them using three different glaze colours- tourquise, black and burgundy (and white for the eyes). I think this colour combination is going to turn out rather cool, for while the red and black are gory, the torqouise will lighten things up.
May 23rd- The pieces have cooled down and there remains one more step- over glazing! I am both nervous and excited for this step, for for the first time I will be dipping a piece in this new, white glaze. A lot of things could go wrong, but I am crossing my fingers that I did this correctly. The final product awaits!
