For one of my Inquiry Projects, I decided to explore glaze and how it works mixed. I made three pieces that all use the same three base colours- turquoise, black and red. There really isn’t anything deeper about this project than what is said and presented- I wanted to explore glaze. As seen in the picture, the mug with the eyes around and in it is a bit”deformed”, which happened for a couple of reasons. For one, it broke while I was transported from my house to school to be fired, making the edge impractical as a mug. This didn’t stop me, and I was intrigued to keep it, so I just smoothed the broken part and bisked it. But this wasn’t all, for the overglaze had some things to say. As one can see, not only did the overglaze bubble or crack but it also completely rid of the underglaze- which I haven’t got a clue as to why. Nonetheless, the mug turned rather cool and more eery than initiated. So to speak, the other two pieces are totally practical- food safe and one might say “even comfortable to use”. I am really proud of how I persevered throughout making these pieces, and overall, I think they turned out rather unique and eccentric in every good way.
