Fictional Science Safety Story

Adib H.

  1. (Safe)

The lab was about to begin for my science class, and the teacher started giving us test tubes to mix our liquids, and a test tube rack to hold the test tubes safely. I carefully placed the test tubes on the rack and poured in the liquids given to us without rushing to not cause any spills. I noticed the liquids had the ‘Flammable Material’ symbol, so I knew a fire could easily occur. After that, I saw my friend accidentally pour the chemicals all over himself, so I noticed that after people stayed calm and were guiding him to go under the ‘Safety Shower’ so that he could remove any harmful/dangerous substances on him. He stayed under the safety shower until the instructor gave him the signal that he was fine. And in the end, he was clean and safe from any chemical dangers, and he learned from his mistake to not repeat it again.

  1. (Unsafe)

I was about to begin another lab for my science class, and we were given Erlenmeyer Flasks to transport heat and store substances, and a funnel to make it safer and easier to pour the needed liquids. We were given the liquids needed to do the lab and I saw that one of them had the sign of an exploding bomb (meaning it was an exploding hazard), so I knew that we needed to be extra careful with that one substance. As we were transporting the liquids, I noticed my friend Bob being reckless and unsafe with moving them. I knew that if he kept it up, something bad was going to happen. But Bob, being an unsmart guy, uses a different liquid than what he was supposed to, and a huge flame rose. So instead of getting a fire extinguisher, he decides to pick it up by himself and put it in the sink. In the end, he burned his hand and learned his lesson.

What’s The Best Ways Beekeepers Can Help The Environment?

Questions I have asked:

  • (Main Wonder Question): What are The Best Ways Beekeepers Can Help The Environment?
  • How does beekeeping affect the effect/help the environment?
  • What are things harmful to bees?
  • How can we help bees survive?
  • How can beekeepers increase/improve the production of honey?

Summary:

Using sway was a little challenge at the start, since I wasn’t too familiar with the application, but after using it and putting down information it started to become easier for me. One thing I struggled with the most was getting the text in the right place I intended it to be for. Another one of my challenges while doing this assignment, was finding different information about my topics, so that’s why I couldn’t use too many search engines, or recourses. Overall, this assignment was good, but one thing I would change about it would be to use a different application I’m familiar with like, Power Point but either then that I think it was a good way to share my information.

I am now able to understand my question a lot better then before this presentation. think I asked some great sub questions that helped me get to the conclusion of understanding the question a lot better. I asked the question: “How does beekeeping affect the affect/help the environment?”, because I thought that it was important to know the benefits of bees/beekeepers and how much they help our environment to understand our question more fully. I also asked the question “How can we help bees survive?” Which I thought was a good question to connect to the main topic. Overall I learned a lot and I think I made it more clear what can be done for beekeepers to help the environment.
