ADL 10 Assignments – Adib's Site

For my Community Connection assignment, I have chosen to interview Eddie Morante. A hockey coach, and a youth worker who works at Poco Recreation Center.

The reason I chose to interview Eddie, is because his career as a youth worker really inspires me since it’s always been an interest of mine to be a social worker. To me, it’s not only about having good pay but also about having a job that I can enjoy and work hard for at the same time, so I thought Eddie’s occupation(s) were perfect to interview.
A little over half an hour later I got a reply and this is what he said:

As you can see above, Eddie helps the youth by coaching them on hockey and personally helping them which is another reason why his career and positions give me inspiratiration for me in the future.
Eddie was going through personal issues at a time in his career but he decided to push through and work hard to end up where he is today and that’s why I was inspired and respect him.

Above you can see that overall, Eddie is very satisfied and passionate about where he is today and he said that there is nothing he would change about it. I also see that he worked very hard at the beginning of his career so that things could all work for him in the end.
Something really important I’ve learned from Eddie is to not be bothered by what people say about you because it’s possible to accomplish great things and you shouldn’t let someone bring you down no matter what. I feel like that’s a great lesson I’ve learned and will definitely take his advice.

Your digital footprint can affect your future opportunities in many ways. So, you should always be cautious about what you post online, as it shows people the type of person you are. Most jobs you want to apply for review your digital footprint, so if you are publicly sharing things that are inappropriate or unsafe, it’s probably going to be a lot harder to get the job.

Your digital footprint can affect your relationship with others because what you post could change their perspective of you. If you are constantly posting negative things online, someone you are in a relationship with would probably want to distance themselves from you in the future.

A strategy that can help you keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe would be to think before your actions. Before you post something questionable on the internet, think to yourself if it is safe to share, or if anything would be affected by it.

The second strategy is not to overshare yourself. Sometimes it’s easy to get too comfortable online and accidentally share things you do not want people to know. Before you want to share something personal, you should think if it’s going to be safe or not.

The final strategy is to be careful about the people you trust on the internet, as it could be very dangerous if you trust the wrong person. Someone could be acting like they are your friend online, but in reality, they are a threat that you should avoid, so you should always be cautious.

How could social media be used in a positive manner?

Social media can be used in many positive ways. One of them is being in contact with your friends and family. You can reach out to your loved ones all around the globe with minimal effort and you can check up on them to see how they’re doing. Social media can also be used in a positive manner to promote helpful things. For example, you can spread awareness about stopping racism, or you can say kind things about other people.
