The piece by Steve Cutts uses Visual Literacy which is the ability to read, write and create visual images. It is a concept that relates to art and design. The picture I chose can have many meanings, one of them being about how much our cellular devices affect us throughout the day. That is why it shows the people walking off the cliff because when they are using their device while walking, they become extremely unaware of their surroundings because their brain is just focused on their device and completely neglecting their surroundings. Another meaning which has some similarities to what was just stated is that the illustration is talking about the famous app “Pokémon Go”. This is because in the illustration, you can see while people are walking off the cliff, there is Pikachu which is a Pokémon character. This would fit the illustration meaning because there were many cases of people dying while playing Pokémon Go because while they were focusing on walking around in the app. They would not focus on where they were walking and, in many cases, get run over by cars. This illustration can be dedicated to people who play or played Pokémon Go. This can even be for people who use their cellular devices often.
