We learned how to solve systems which are just two equations that cross on the same line.
There are four way to solve these systems substitution, elimination, graphing, or inspection.
I am going to use substitution to solve this system.
2x+2y=8
x+3y=14
First you want to move the y to isolate the x because that will be the first coordinate we will be finding.
2x=8-2y
now you have to fully isolate the x by dividing by 2 from the entire equation.
x=4-y
place the x into the second equation where the x is located.
4-y+3y=14
move the like terms together.
-y+3y=14-4
2y=10
now divide again to isolate the x
x=5 is your x coordinate.
now to place that into the y in either equation you find easier
i will be using x+3y=14
x+3(5)=14 multiply 5×3
x+15=14
now move like terms together
x=14-15
x=1
and your final coordinates will be (-1,5)
