We have learned about linear relations during week 9 of Math 10. We learned how to find the coordinates within graphs and learned about how to find if it is a y-intercept or an x-intercept as well as dependent and independent (the cost of something is dependent on the weight of it). I have chosen to focus on the intercepts and how to determine them.
Step one: for the y intercept you are going to need to erase the X and replace it with a 0. Any x within the equation you want to replace to get the correct coordinates in the end .
Step two: You will be left with:
Plus the 0 at the end. since the 3x became 0 it would have been erased from the equation and would not be an element.
Step three: you will divide the two numbers you are left with and your y-intercept will equal to 6 and the coordinates will be (0,6)
Good to know the x goes first and y second so 0=x and y=6 so (0.6)
Now to find the x-intercept.
same steps
except for replacing y with 0
Good to remember the x always goes first and the y second for coordinates so in this case the 4=x and 0=y. (4,0)
