Within the last week of Math 10 I have been able to build my understanding of polynomials and how to solve them, by factoring. While learning about this subject I have found that factoring is an easy way to solve long complicated looking expressions and making it easier to understand and concentrate on the important factors in the question. While i chose to focus mainly on trinomials and how to solve them with the new knowledge i have gained in the pasted week.

Step 1: Being able to look the question and know which number to asses first.

In this case it would be 15 because this number is the only number you should be finding the GCF, 1×15, 3×5, 5×3 that is all the numbers you would get while multiplying to get 15.

Step 2: Dealing with the middle number or the number with the variable without exponents.

2x in this expression would be the usually be addition while this equation does include subtraction, you would subtract 1-15 while doesn’t give you what you would like, while 5-3 would give you 2 this is the numbers that would best fit 2 and 15.

This pictures shows how need to have the difference of squares (subtraction term) to be able to asses this expression and solve it. which explains why we have one – and one + answer.
