Week6-Precalc11

This week we learned the different methods of solving quadratic equations. I learned it in grade8 in China and I almost forgot them. There are three ways to solve them: Zero product law, Completing the square and Using a special formula. They are all convenient, but sometimes you have to choose. For example, there’s an equation like that: 4x^2-12x+3=0, if you use the zero product law, it would be difficult to solve, so we can use the formula or completing the square, but I think the formula is easier than the square method, so here are my steps:
a=4,b=-12,c=3;
x=-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac}/2a,
=12+/-\sqrt{144-48}/8,
=3+/-\sqrt{6}/2
This part is not very hard for me, and I’m glad to help my deskmate with the problems that confused her, I even taught her my Chinese methods of factoring, which can save more time than the boxing one. I’m so happy.
