Week5-Precalc11

This week we learned about the method of simplifying the ugly looking equation, especially trinomials.
The method I learned in China was different from the one Ms.Burton uses. I’m good at guessing, but sometimes you can’t guess because the ugly looking equations has a very big number and it’s hard to know the factors by guessing. But it’s okay cause I understood how to use the box method. The one I want to talk about is the method of ‘substitute things that equal each other’. This is a magical method. For example, there’s a question (x-6)^2+7(x-6)+10, I don’t know how to do it at the beginning, Ms.Burton regarded (x-6)^2 as ‘a’, then she made the equation a^2+7a+10, and she got (a+5)(a+2), and then put the (x+6) back into it, so the final answer was:(x-4)(x-1). This is a good and convenient method and I learned it well.
Also we had a test this week on Thursday I hope I can get an A!
