1.Explain why you picked the resources that you did.

Canada has a poly-ethnic society which means Canada is very open to immigrants/ different races. Most Canadians accept differences between people and they can share their thoughts/ express themselves freely. I chose the last picture because it reminded me of the common stereotype about Canadians: “Canadian are polite and nice”. I don’t think all people are polite and nice, but I think it’s true that most people are kind and polite and they always say “sorry” or “thank you”

2. How does this reflect your perspective of Canadian Identity?  What is it about this resource that makes you think it is an accurate portrayal of Canada or being Canadian?

  • The BBC article explains what it means to be a Canadian in detail. It says “Difference is interesting” and I think this is how Canada accept all the difference between people/ culture.
  • The second picture also connects to the link I attached to and the picture really represents what I think of Canada because lots of people with different characteristics/ thoughts form the Canadian society. If they weren’t there, Canada wouldn’t have a good reputation that Canada now has, because difference and being open to other is a greatest advantage that Canada has.

3. Pick either a different time period or different cultural background than your own.  How do you think they would view the resources that you picked?  Would their views of the resources be the same as yours?  If not, how would they differ?

If it was in 19th Century I’d never come to Canada because there were lots of discrimination towards immigrants. Canada had an improvement and I think I’m lucky to be here now.
