MATH 10 – WEEKLY #7– Factorization

Before spring break, I’ve got back my quiz results and I am more clear to what I’m weak at. I usually write a wrong answer because of carelessness. The changing of positive and negative sign was the part that I got wrong the most. So, I prefer next time I’ll do another double check before I hand in and I’m going to clarified the signs in this post.

Factorization is a process we reverse the answer from Polynomial Operation.

In factorization, we have to find the common factor from the question

For example:

The next part will be talking about those signs which is like:

  • x^2+5x+6 = (x+2)(x+3)      {2+3=5} & {2×3=6}
  • If the sign changed,  the answer will be total different and I’m going to show below

The third part will be the most complicated part which I make a lot of mistakes

  • x^25x+6 = (x2)(x3)        { (-2) + (-3) = -5} & { (-2) x (-3) = +6 }
  • x^2+x6 = (x+2)(x3)         { (+2) + (-3) = -1 = x} & { (+2) x (-3) = -6 }
