Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

In the future, if I’m applying for a job, school, renting a home or more, an employee or manager will be looking for your digital footprint. If you posted something inappropriate they might not take you for the job, school, etc. When the manager’s or landlords are looking at your posts they might have the wrong impression. Your digital footprint can be easily found, that’s why its important to think about what you are posting, commenting, tweeting and more.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

One strategy I will use is, before I post anything I will double check, to make sure I don’t post anything bad or something I wouldn’t want them seeing. I will ask myself, is this a good idea?Another thing is you can put your account on private if u do not want anyone seeing anything except your close friends. If you are rethinking posting the photo or video, then the best idea is to not post it at all. Staying safe on social media is important, not sharing your personal information, don’t talk to random people.

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

I would tell them to be careful what you post and think before you post anything and don’t post unnecessary stuff. I would also say that everyone can see what you post so be safe with what you are posting, and if you are posting someone else, make sure they gave permission for you to post it.
