Surface area VS volumes

What is the difference between surface area and volume? Let’s say you have a rubix cube and with the height, width, and length all being 10cm, although being a big cube. The big difference between surface area and volume would be the way you find each one, to find the surface area of our example you would multiply 10 by 10 as you would trying to the area of a 2d figure but because each side of the cube is same you would multiply the overall number you got by 6 since a cube has 6 equal sides giving us an area of 600cm squared . As for the volume of our example you multiply the measurements of the base, height, and length so in our case 10 cubed or 10 multiplied by 10 multiplied by 10 again giving us 1000cm cubed.
