Rube Goldberg we made reflection and video

 Part A

Research Problem 1. When looking for the spiral we had to go through a lot of videos

Research Problem 2. When thinking of an idea I thought of making a food guillotine, so I look up how to make the knife drop down of the food and it took a long time before we found a good model

Research Problem 3. We took a long time to look for a way to make a pully go down, so we used a car to hold it up and keep the rope still.

Design 1. We used an inclined plane to let a ball go down and to let it fall into a cup, but the ball keeps falling onto the ground, so we made a little ramp to let it down without falling on the ground.

Design 2. The dominoes keep falling the wrong way so to fix it we double stacked it so the marble would hit it straight on.

Design 3. When we had the cup fall it would just flick the lever off its block, so we changed the lever by putting it in between a hinge

Materials 1. The cardboard was breaking so I replaced it with wood for the lever and some of the frame.

Materials 2. The dominoes kept falling over so we raised the floor of the project up so it could stand still

Materials 3. When we made the first lever the hinge was to big so it wouldn’t stay still so we had to make a smaller one.

Construction p1 1. The clamps kept moving to we put pieces of wood to make them not move

Construction p1 2. When using the drill to make a hole to put a dowel into the bit was to small to we look through the drill bin a matched to the dowel size to the drill bit size to make them fit.

Construction p1 3. The knife for the banana cutting didn’t fall right so I taped some wood and drilled a hole to make the knife fall right.

Construction p2 1. We changed the movement of the spiral that let the ball down many times because they were all to flimsy.

Construction p2 2. When we made the pully it would start to move off of the dowel so I put glue onto the dowel to stop it from moving.

Construction p2 3. When about done the inclined plane would wiggle so I added more glue onto it to stop it from moving.

Part B

In this project I learned that make a Rube Goldberg machine is very hard to make and take a lot of patience and creativity and lots of gluing and taping.

The tools I learned to use is the belt sander because in middle school we never had one only a disk sander I also learned how to use a drill better and more with more stability.

I learned how to build a pully and how to build a lever which was not that hard in context but took some creativity and sanding.

Last of all I learned how to work with a team to glue and to build all on one project and all on one table.
