  The VPD prepared a 13 – page “privacy impact assessment” with input fro, B.C.’s privacy commissioner and the B.C Civil Liberties Association to ensure the operation of the drones doesn’t invade citizen’s privacy, said Vancouver police Supt.

The drones for the better to found the dangerous people, drones will primaril be used in crashes where they provide “unique points of view” for investigation and reconstruction, he said.

Timeline – Communication

 Paragraph1:  It is the fact that communication has undergone many developments throughout the history. As people’s requirements for communication continue to increase, telecommunication is to voice, text, data, image and high definition television and other integrated multimedia communication development. Before 2000, people invented the phone to make a phone call, Email, touch screen, and text message. Undoubtedly, the greatest contribution into the development of communications technologies was the discovery of the Internet in 1983. Without it, modern telecommunications would have been impossible. It decreased the costs and increased the speed of the information transfer, which enabled bringing communication to the new quality level- the most widely consumed services all over the globe. Through the timeline, we can see that Email was invented in 1985, followed by the text message in 1992. In these years, the text message could be invented. There are two important reasons. First, although in 1990, the economy posted an average growth rate in GDP of about 3% in Japan. Second, Email and text messages have the same meaning. Both of them are sending messages and can naturally evolve well with each other. They’re all used to send messages, send pictures. The only difference is that Email can send files, but text messages can’t. The tools on mobile phones offer a lot of help to people.

Paragraph2: It is obvious that technology and telecommunications move back-to-beck and the latest breakthrough which was the Internet and mobile shopping have resulted in bringing global telecommunications to a new level. After 2000, a lot of software and high technology also became popular on mobile phones. The old fashioned printed media fall behind the innovative web-based and mobile apps like Amazon, Spotify and Instagram. People created mobile shopping in 2003 and face recognition in next two years. “The Japanese economy grew at 2.5 percent in 2003,” (Takatoshi ITO, which helped Japan create face recognition. Online shopping and face recognition can evolve well with each other. When people are shopping online, they will have to pay by the password. At this time, people use face recognition technology instead of password. “6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2004 (annualized quarter-to-quarter growth).” We can see that Japan’s economy grew significantly in 2004. It shows that face recognition improves the economy. Finally, online shopping and face recognition can evolve well together. There are more and more tools on mobile phones, which help us a lot.

Food Journal – Consumable Waste

                                              Food Journal – Consumable Waste                    Wendy

   Nowadays, we can’t live without environmental protection. Like the food we make, Each kind of food is packaged according to its kind, carton, plastic bag, plastic bottle… These materials are specially selected for the products purchased. Vegetables, for example, are kept in plastic bags to keep them fresh. Like some fruit juice, drinks, can be put into the ring-pull can. This does not expire easily. Packaging is a positive for consumers. Because packaging can help us to preserve food, not easy to waste. But as time went on, we developed a lot of wasteful habits. So how can we reasonably use these unused plastic bags or cans? First, we can use plastic bags of decorations as garbage bags to avoid waste. Second, we save cans for recycling. In a day, in a year, in a hundred years, some of it can be recycled, some of it can’t. Like plastic products, some countries may leave plastic products in an open space, and eventually these plastic products will stay in the ground forever until people find them. “Food waste collected as recycling from homes in the borough is taken to Bedfordshire where it is turned into energy and fertiliser. During this process, food waste is put into an anaerobic digester where micro-organisms break down food waste in the absence of oxygen. This process produces biogas, a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide which can then be used to produce heat, electricity or transport fuels. The gas itself is a source of renewable energy.” Some people never cherish the food, if they can’t eat it, they will choose to throw it away. This leads to global warming. Now the earth has become very bad because of garbage, we have to protect it through their own little power. We should protect the environment, save resources and make our life better.

Media Research Project

     Media Research Project

     Wechat is a chat app with different features. The creator of WeChat was Xiaolong Zhang  from Tencent and he established it on January 21, 2011 in Guangzhou, China. By then, it’s accompanying social network with 780 million active users. “The debut of this mobile-only messenger app was a big break from Tencent’s very PC-era social networks and online gaming empire.” (Steven Millward, 2018) Wechat is a free application in instant messaging service for smart terminal users to provide people with better communication. The intended age group is recommend to be 16 years and olderPeople can not only  causally chat with each other but also do business via WeChat now, thus the wechat businessman becomes popular in China, which can explain how WeChat makes money. When people do Wechat business, they will pay a handling fee as well as commissions  to WeChat. Here comes the most fascinating feature about doing WeChat business, which is the way of payment, allowing  the users to go out without cash or cards and pay through a mobile phone. “Xiaolong, now has legendary status throughout the Chinese tech scene due to the success of WeChat. He currently heads the ‘WeiXin Group’, probably the most strategically important business unit of the internet giant Tencent.” (Matthew Brennan, 2015). WeChat has been used internationally, it not only has been used in China. “In fact, wechat is not only welcomed in China, but the number of overseas WeChat users counts at around 70 million, which means  if you’re targeting Chinese consumers as part of your marketing strategy, you have to definitely begin using wechat.” (Alex Wan, 2017) WeChat is not only a communication app, but it is an app that enriches the lives of many. WeChat is not only a communication app, but it is an app that enriches the lives of many.

New Media explained 2

New Media is a form of communication. It’s a form  in which information and services are provided to users through computer network, wireless communication network, satellite and other channels, as well as terminals such as computers, mobile phones and digital television by means of digital technology. It includes: Web sites, blogs, Apps, Email, wikis, smart pones, social nerworks, steaming video, streaming music… New media includes many things:Entertainment, study, shopping and so on. Different people will choose different aspects. Someone will buy the study materials they need, such as books or magazines. Others will buy the video games they like to relieve their study or working stress, which can be called media consumption fragments. A great many people have used the new media for a long time till now. There are a few skills to consume media in a healthier way. Firstly, you can set the time on the phone to limit the time you will spend on new media, five hours a day. Secondly, you can Set the WiFi time, which means when the time is due, the WIFI will be cut off automatically . “All sorts of research seems to say yes, and many have pointed out the dangers to the youth from too much screen time , too much access to porn, and too much TV . We might want to just chill once in a while: reading a book. going for a leisurely stroll around a museum or taking part in a bit of quiet, thoughtful one-on-one conversation” (John Donovan 2018). Lastly, new Media can help us with many things only when you use it wisely.

Math 10 – Week 17

This week we review the final exam.

It’s about GCF(greatest common factor), LCM(least common muitples), slope, Pythagorean Theorem, and relations.

First of all, GCF. For example, 90 and 225, 90=2*3*3*5. 225=3*3*5*5. GCF=3*3*5, GCF=45.

LCM. For example, 30 and 36. 30=2*3*5, 36=2*2*3*3. LCM=2*2*3*3*5, LCM=180.

The next one is pythagoren Theorem.

Hypontenuse (longest side) = a2+b2=c2.

We have three ratio: Sine ratio=o/h, Cos ratio=a/h, Tan=o/a.

And then we learned the relation part.

The cost of jujubes is related to the weight.

Cost=dependent, y, output, range, Weight=independent, x, input, domain.

And other important thing is x-intercept=(x,0). y-intercept=(0,y).

Domain is x scope, Range is y scope.

Math 10 – Week 16

This week we leared about arithmetic sequences.

For example: 8, 14, 20… They add six every time, so t4=26, t5=32, t6=38.

And then there’s another type of question. ( ), ( ), 0, ( ), ( ). d=3.

So we can know they add by 3 every time. So the anwser is -6, -3, 0, 3, 6.

There are another two questions here.

1: If t2=10 and t6=34, determine t1 and the general term(tn).

We can use the step before, we can write t1-t6 down. Then we can know, t2 to t6 need 4d.

So we can write: t2+4d=t6. And turn them into Numbers.

10+4d=34, 4d=24, d=6.

t1=t2-d, t1=4.

tn=t1+(n-1)(6). This is a formula: tn=t1+(n-1)d.

tn=4+6n-6, tn=6n-2. So this is the anwser.

Other example is: Given the sequence: x+2, 3x-1, 2x++1… determine what x would be to make this an arithmetic sequence..

   Find d= tn-tn+1.

d=(3x-1)-(x+2)       d=(2x+1)-(3x-1)

=3x-1-x-2                   =2x=1-3x+1

=2x-3                          =-x+2

And then we need: 2x-3=-x+2

3x-3=2

3x=5, x=5/3.

Space project

                                                                         What does space smell like?

  Smell is an indispensable part of our life. The smells we smell on earth are odorless, if we can breathe in space, so I asked the question, what does space taste like? My initial idea was: The smell of space is pungent. Because there are 92 chemical elements on earth, and these elements also exist in space, one few, one many. In addition to the 92 elements, there are various subatomic particles in space. These particles have also been found on earth (or made in particle accelerators). There are so many material in the space, so I thought space smell like pungent. After my research on this issue, my final opinion is: smell of metal, or charred steak.

  My question is: what does the space smell like?If I want to know what space smell like, I need to know what’s in it and what does space contain. Through searching the information, I know: There are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Venus, and so(*1) There are an infinite number of planets in space. Jupiter smell of which has been likened to bitter almonds, or marzipan. Uranus has no smell. Venus smells like rotten eggs.(*2) So space smells different. And space contain mostly hydrogen atoms, sulfurous. There are lesser amounts of helium and lithium atoms. This question reflects the smell of space.

2: https://www.space.com/24870-what-is-space.html

  The third small question, is Does temperature affect smell? On earth, temperature affects smell. For example, when it rains, the smell is moist and fresh. On a hot day, the smell changes with the temperature. In space, The temperature in outer space is 2.73 Kelvin (-270.42 Celsius, -454.75 Fahrenheit).(*1) The temperature in space is minus 272 degrees Celsius, I think the temperature will affect the smell. The fourth small question, is Disappear stars have any effect on the smell of spaceI think Disappear stars have effect on the smell of space. There is a special smell at the edge of the universe. This smell smells like the smell of high-speed combustion of oil in cars, that is, the smell of hot metals and diesel. This strange smell exists in The causes of the edge of the universe are mainly from those dying stars. After my search, I finally came to the answer: space is the smell of burning metal. The last question is: Disappear stars have any effect on the smell of space? Disappear stars have effect on the smell of space. There is a special smell at the edge of the universe. This smell smells like the smell of high-speed combustion of oil in cars, that is, the smell of hot metals and diesel. This strange smell exists in The causes of the edge of the universe are mainly from those dying stars.(*2)

1: https://www.scienceabc.com/nature/universe/what-is-the-temperature-of-space.html

2: https://www.science.org.au/curious/space-time/smells-space

  Conclution: Through my search, space smell like the smell of burnt metal. Space contains mostly hydrogen atoms.  There are lesser amounts of helium and lithium atoms. There are so many planets in space. Such as: Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus… Every planet has a different smell. So they affect the smell in the space. I think the temperature will affect the smell. The temperature in space is minus 272 degrees Celsius, Although people can’t breathe normally in space, their olfactory receptors become more sluggish. So that’s why People experience the same smell differently in cold and hot environments. The last question is “Disappear stars have any effect on the smell of space?” The short answer is dying stars. Louis Allamandola, director of NASA’s astrophysics and astrochemistry lab, says that as stars combust, they release polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which explains the smell. These molecules can also be found on Earth in things such as soot, car exhaust, burnt toast and charred meat. When the doomed planet disappears, there is a smell of burnt metal. And that’s the answer to my question. Space smell like burnt metal.
