For the democracy question, was there ever a vote on independence? After the fighting began, Congress seemed quick to claim independence, it was just about a year after the beginning of the Revolutionary War.
Try to give some specific examples from the Revolution that proves when it’s justified to fight your government.
In Canada, do we need to fight against our government? Do they listen to us? Would the conditions for fighting our government be different from others then?
For the identity part, think about how American chooses to solve world issues. Or how they really dislike having governments tell them what to do. Those ideas were all present in what the American Revolution was about.
For Canada, with the Constitution Act, that was our way of trying to have different cultures work together. We had to start practicing that early on in our history.
