I learned about the greatest common factor (GCF) and the least common multiple (LCM).

GCF

  • It is the largest number that can be divided between 2 separate numbers.
  • To find this number you need the prime factorization for both numbers. Once you get these numbers you rewrite all the common numbers below it and multiply them together.

Like this:

LCM

  • the first biggest number that is shared between 2 numbers (or more)
  • To find this you rewrite the number you had from the GCF and multiply them by the remaining numbers
