Last week we began practicing making smaller models of our masks to practice slip wedging. We learned how to proportion our face masks and shape the faces. The week before that we began our five-month-long project using the skills that I have already I began making plans for a working clock made up of clay. I plan on getting an old clock for cheap and transferring the parts over to my own creation. I got my inspiration from salt spring island clay art and I want to make my own type of style using salt spring island art as inspiration.
From the following week, I didn’t make the progress I wanted on the five-month-long project I only got my shape and a couple of the numbers cut out for the clock. This week I plan on getting all the numbers done and possibly getting the clock put into the kiln. With the smaller mask project, I want to finish as early as possible to be able to work on my own maks project during the week and also my personal project. But %100 of my focus is getting the small mask done first. To conclude my goal is to get ahead of the game to have more time for my personal project.
Second Journal Log
I haven’t made any more progress with my five-month project. I’ve started making my own mini mask and I’m quite happy with the way it turned out. I’ve learned more of what this class is about and I’m enjoying it a lot!
I finished my mini mask and I’m going to be starting on my full-sized face mask next week! I had to restart my five-month project because the clay dried out I didn’t moisturize the paper towel enough.

I have now finished my mask and I will now be starting my mask artist statement and then I’ll be working on my personal five-month-long art project.
