Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

 Analysis

The Road Not Taken written by Robert Frost. The author who is Robert Frost was American poet. The Road Not Taken”is a poem, published in 1916 as the first poem in the collection Mountain Interval. He was born March 26. 1874 at San Francisco and he got a lots of kids. He died January 29.1963 at Boston. He was most famous poet in United States. The purpose of this poem is to tell us about a person who trying to make a decision of two choices in the life. The Robert Frost want to share his experience when he faces a difficult choice in his life. He wants to tell us that we have to be careful and be smart in choosing choices and take the consequence in every decision. There is a traveler who travelled in a long road. He walks along the road. In our daily life, two diverged road means two choices of life. But only one of them can reach our destination. People should make a good decision by choosing the best way. People also have think and to be very smart in choice. Even thought the choice is not the favorite one.

This poem made up of four stanzas of five line each, and each line has between eight and ten syllables in a roughly iambic rhyme. The lines each stance rhyme in an abaab pattern. The speaker is Robert Frost by his self and he is talking to his self. Traveler of Denotation is a person or thing that travel and Connotation is human being. The poem is narrative poem and social because the poem is about life decision. This poem makes people wondering life decision. The speaker must choose between diverge paths in a wood, and he sees that choice as a metaphor for choosing between different directions in life. The poem symbol is “it was grassy and wanted wear” it shows that the other path is easier and more ideal to chosen. And “yellow wood” is symbolize an autumn. The setting of this poem is autumn. Assonance fourteen various “o” sounds in the first stanza. Diction the word choices “diverged”, “less traveled”, “trodden back” all show tendency toward one path over the other. The line “ because it was grassy and wanted wear” is personification because it implies that the path desires something. The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABAAB CDCCD EFEFE GHGGH. When we make a life changing decision, we are free to choose what we are to do. Assonance is used through tout the poem. For example,”wood” “could”,”stood” from the first stanza. There was no alliteration in this poem. The last line can be represented as a paradox, because he decides to take the road less traveled by when the two roads are both equally fair path to chose. Hyperbole is at when the narrator says “Somewhere ages and ages hence”. He does not mean actual ages, but sometime in the future weather it maybe in a year or more to tell about the path. The clear symbolism is represented as the two path in the woods being the two options in a life situation where you can only chose one way. The title states that there is always a road not taken when you decide to pressure one path, which is clearly true and understandable. I believe it is a good title that represents the sacrifice of making a decision in any choice that you make in your life. Yes it does succeed to recreate the scene for the reader. Because every reader or human being has a chance of making a decision. There will be only one of the path that they can choose from others likewise in the poem. This might reach intensely to the reader if they think deeply about the path they sacrificed, and imagined what would it be like if they followed the other path. As I mentioned, it shows the significance of making a decision, even you may not know what to expect from your decision.

This poem is autumn so I thought autumn is little bit dark and calm so I chose this music. The music is matching with poem “the Road not taken”. He is regret sometimes and he is too much thinking about his life so the music is matching his feeling too.
