We’ve had some great class discussions during this unit, but we haven’t gotten into this word too much because I (Ms. W) have a hard line against using it myself. While I still believe this should be a rule for those of us who are not People of Colour, I want you to make up your own mind. Feel free to read through the below resources and research your own. It took me a long time to get to the place I am with my own privilege and I have done a lot of reading and thinking about this, but I invite you to do the same and make your own conclusions.
That being said, do not use the word at school.

- Another look at the word
- From the perspective of someone who believes this is a hypocritical argument
- Singing it in rap songs
- The is no need for us to use the word
- Why it’s okay for black people, but not for white people, to say that word.
- An interesting, though academic paper, about the white equivalent
- A helpful resource if you don’t understand what privilege really means
