1. What is DNA? Describe it’s structure.
Deoxyribonucleic acid, a self-replicating material present in nearly all living organisms as the main constituent of chromosomes. It is the carrier of genetic information.
2. Explain what the following parts of the model represent:
Licorice: The licorice represents the DNA, sort of spine, or backbone, holding the structure together.
Green Marshmallow: This marshmallow represents the Guanine (G) on the DNA.
Orange Marshmallow: This marshmallow represents the Thymine (T) on the DNA.
Yellow Marshmallow: This marshmallow represents the Adenine (A) on the DNA.
Pink Marshmallow: This marshmallow represents the Cytosine on the DNA.
Toothpick: The toothpicks represent the braces, holding the 2 backbone parts together, making it the DNA.
