This week we had a lesson on how to find the absolute value of a real number. The absolute value is the distance a number is from zero, and the absolute value of a number will always be positive weather it is a positive or negative number in the absolute value symbols. For example the \mid -6 \mid = 6

The absolute value symbols are similar to brackets, because you have to do everything in the symbols first, but you cannot use distributive property like you would use in brackets. The picture below is an example of how to find the absolute value:
