  • Practice: Use https://www.mycalculators.com/ca/loancalcm.html to do the following problem.
    • You charge a $2500 bike on your credit card (including taxes). The card has an annual interest rate of 19% that compounds monthly. You plan to pay $110 per month to the credit card company. Fill in these three values on the website above, then click on the “Months” button.
      • How long will it take you to pay for the bike?
      • How much will you pay in total over the life of this loan?
    • If you change the interest rate to 6%, as you might get for a bank loan, what is the new time to pay for the bike and new total paid?
    • Now, increase your payment to $200 per month. What does that do to the length of time and total paid? (try this for both 6%, then 19%)
    • What gives you the shortest length of time and least total paid for a $2500 loan?
  • Answers in order: 28.39 months, $3123.56; 24.19 months, $2660.48; 12.94 months, $2588.02, 14.04 months, $2807.84; lowest interest rate and highest monthly payment
Have a great summer!!
