Week 13 – Math 10

30-11-2018

This week I have learned to find an equation using all the skills we have learned grouped together (slope y-intercept form, point slope form, general form).
It was so hard at first, but I get better after doing many practice questions.

Slope y-intercept form

Point-slope form

General form
General form example:

The slope y-intercept form is used when we are given the slope of a line and the y-intercept.
The point-slope form is used when we are given the slope of a line and any point on the line.
In many cases, either the point or the slope of the line must be determined from the information given before the equation can be used.
You won’t know anything from general form, so you must change it into point-slope or slope y-intercept form to know the slope, y-intercept and points. The values always have to be positive, and you cannot have any fractions in the general form. So the numbers are all integers.

Also, we have learned how to use the skills in real life too, such as the distance travelled by a car as a linear function of time, the temperature of an oven as a linear function of time. They are called the rate of change.
