Safety Cheat Sheet

Fire:

  • Fire Blanket
  • To put an immediate out to a small fires on people and also to cover them if their clothes have been burned

Burns/Scolds:

  • Bandage
  • Cover and keep clean any burns or scolds to avoid infection and keep open sores away from food

 

Chemicals:

  • Waft chemicals
  • To prevent breathing in toxic fumes or nauseating fumes waft your hand over the substance

 

 

Slips Trips and Falls:

  • Keep area clear
  • To avoid someone tripping, slipping or falling make sure to pick up anything that could be a hazard

 

Cuts:

  • Gloves
  • Make sure that if you have open wounds or any type of cut you wear gloves to avoid for yourself anything getting in them and also so you don’t contaminate the food you are making

 

Heavy Lifting:

  • Know when to pass on the job
  • If you are asked to lift something too heavy for you to hold know when you need to pass up the job or ask for help

 

Food Poisoning

  • Don’t leave perishable in room temperature
  • If it very important you don’t leave perishable foods at room temperature but in a fridge instead to avoid mold

 

Waste Management:

  • Clean area as preparing food
  • It is always good to stay clean when you are cooking to stay sanitary, so clean as you go to avoid clutter and control waste

 

Personal Hygiene:

  • No long sleeve
  • Never have long sleeves while cooking for your own safety and also so your germs and whatever your sleeves have been touching stay out of the food
