Paper Mache Award (Purpose)-3D Studio Arts

  1.

These are the images that I used for inspiration. I like the stars because my award is being given to myself, for being a bright person.

2.   I’m hoping to make the stars out of paper mache and the base maybe out of clay.

Week #1

I made my base for my award out of clay, then scooped out some of the insides so that it would be less likely to explode in the kiln, as well as to save some clay. I still need to figure out how i’m going to connect my stars to the base and what material to use so i’m keeping it moist to be able to work with it.

Week #2

I put my base on the rack so that it’s ready to be put in the kiln, and i finished my stars that i’m going to attach on the base. I  shaped them out of wire and connected them with tape. It was really time consuming to shape them which made it a little bit frustrating. I hope to start putting the paper mache on it next week or this week.

Week #3

My challenge is that I lost one of my stars so I had to create a new one. I didn’t want to remake it out of wire so I made it out of tin foil and covered it in tape. I hope to connect my other two stars to the base star and after I’m done paper machéing I want to start painting it.

Week #4

I paper mached my star and added a coat of bronze paint, then finished with some gold powder. Then I added the label which was just paper, with some black and bronze on the outline. Everything went smoothly.
