Science App Review

Science app review

Define:  I need to find a fun, entertaining app to help me practice and learn the elements of the periodic table.

Dream:  It would be really cool if I could find an app, that could teach me the elements of the periodic table in the form of a game. If there was a game that could tech you the elements, their names, weights, atomic numbers and even if they are a metal or a non-metal. If I could find an app that could do all that and more that would be really helpful. If I could find an app that could also help me study for a test and even help quiz me.

App choice: The app that I chose is called Atomas, it is an game designed to help you learn the elements of the periodic table in a fun and captivating way. It teaches you their atomic numbers and their elements symbols. It will help you get a head start on what you will learn in grade 9.

App description: Atomas has a variety of different levels and settings. The goal of the game is to combine different elements to create larger ones, without filling up the circle. There are 4 different levels, classic, time attack, zen and geneva. To play all of  these different levels you have to earn a certain number of points to unlock them. Each time you combine two of the same element together it creates a new, larger element. You want to create the largest element possible to earn the most points. The app will help inform you about different elements, their names, symbols and atomic numbers. The app was pretty self-explanatory and not to complicating to use.

Debrief:  The app that I found called Atomas can help you learn the elements symbols and their atomic numbers. The app teaches you the elements in a fun and entertaining way, it gives you a number of different elements and you have to place them in a strategic circle to eventually combine them together to form larger elements. The app was helpful and it made science more fun but it didn’t have everything that I was looking for. I didn’t show the atomic weights of the elements or if they were a metal or a non-metal. If I could change anything about the app, I would add more details about the elements and I also would add a section to the app allowing you to quiz yourself or to help you practice the different elements.
