This week I learned about fraction exponents.

With fraction exponents, you have to remember FLOWER POWER (the root is on the bottom) because when converting fraction exponents into radicals, or the other way around, you have to know what number indicates what root it is going to be.

Converting a fraction exponent to a radical:

All you need to do is look at the the fraction exponent, the denominator (the bottom number) will be what kind of root you have to convert it to, and the nominator (the top number) is the exponent.

For example, say we have the number 81 with a fraction exponent of 3/4. You would put 81 under a fourth root sign with 3 as it’s exponent, the fourth root of 81 is 3, with an exponent of 3 should equal 27.

Converting a radical to a fraction exponent:

Say we have the square root of 25 with an exponent of 3. You would take out the 25 and the exponent of 3 and FLOWER POWER, so the 2 (of the square root) goes under the 3 exponent.
