Digital Footprint

Digital footprints say a lot about yourself and what kind of person you are. It gives you a reputation that could be positive or negative. My digital footprint could affect my future studies, jobs, and relationships.

  1. An example is if I said something negative about my boss of mine and by chance, he/she overhears, it could affect my reputation and I could lose a job. Another example is if I were a social influencer. I’m someone who spoke rudely to others in the past and hid that information. Suddenly someone finds that information and my career could drop dramatically, I would be viewed differently from the world.
  2. One way to keep our digital footprint safe is to not talk bad about anything or anyone. Words reflect on what kind of person you are. Proofread what you are commenting beforehand, so you won’t regret what you’ve typed. Another strategy is to keep your private and/or important information away from public sites. It could leak out and cause problems for you. Lastly, if you’re about to post something but insure whether to, chances are it’s better not posting it.
  3. In this class, I learned that I should be more aware online and keep certain information private. I could also tell those around me to watch what they put online and help them be safe online on the internet.
