Mutation Story

Pt 1

Sjogren Syndrome’s Story

Hello, my name is Sjogren. I am a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by lymphocytic infiltrates in exocrine organs. I am a gene but also a mutation… which means I am a cell missing a part. What happened to me as a gene is unknown as of right now, but doctors do have diets , treatments and drugs to cure the syndrome. The effects that Sjogren syndrome have on my hosts body (Bob Marks) are severe dry eyes and mouth and extremely droopy cheeks…not a very pretty sign. Sjorgen syndrome can affect people of both sexes. I am sure people don’t like having extremely dry mouth and eyes, and I’m sure they get many weird looks with their droopy cheeks…but Sjorgen syndrome does not have any life effects on the hosts body (Bob Marks).

Pt 2

Some questions I had to search in order to create this mutation story were:

SSB Syndrome ?, How is living with sjogren syndrome?, What happens to the body when you have sjogren syndrome? and What kind of gene is the sjogren syndrome? (although nobody knows yet).

Some new and familiar sites I used for this project were:

Google (familiar), Destiny (familiar), Urban dictionary (familiar) and Niams.nih.gov (new)

http://www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/

The process I used to investigate this syndrome for this project was just going to multiple sites and searching each point I was to research and making sure each website gave me roughly the same answer. Then I would put it into my project and move to the next point. I made sure to understand everything before I put it into my edublog project and I made sure everything made sense and anything I used from a website I was sure to not copy and paste and just re write the sentence in my own words.

Matter Matters

Define:

Matter may be hard to understand because its a very big concept with lots of components. It is not an easy subject and it can be a lot to take in.

Dream:

To conduct an experiment, make a video, make a quiz, make a game out of matter ect. ect.

Deliver:

Here is what we know about matter!

There are 3 states of matter. Liquid, Solid and Gas. Matter is anything that takes up space. Or has mass or volume. All matter is made up of atoms.

Debrief:

We had good ideas about how to present our facts about matter. Our delivery could have been better!
