In your post write to explain how you figured out what equations to use. Did you have any challenges? Any aha moments? Did you get help? Did you use any strategies? How did this assignment help you understand more about transformations of functions.?
To figure out what equation to use I looked at if the section I wanted to outline was curved or not, then respectively I would choose which function to use. The main challenge I had was that I chose a photo with to many lines and I underestimated the difficulty of the project. It took me longer that I originally thought. I definitely believe that it has been one of the hardest projects I’ve ever done. Another problem I ran into while doing this project is that the colours I was using would randomly change. That made me have to spend hours changing them back. In the end I realized it was since some of my variables in the function and the colours I chose overlapped. In the beginning of the project I could not understand how to shade in the areas, however with the help of my teacher, and a bit of trial and error, I came to understand it better.
In terms of understanding the transformation of function, it has definitely helped. I think that objectively from my perspective function have been the unit I have struggled to understand the most. Being able to see them visually and see the affects of changes I make in real time has been a great help. I don’t think that I’ m a visual learner, but more of a hands on learner, so that part was the most beneficial for me.
In the future, if I ever do a similar project, or if I review my functions unit, I think that the process will go a lot smoother.
