sammy the sperm

Once upon a time there was a little sperm named Sammy. Sammy was born in the testis hospital and went to the epidiymis. Sammy spent his whole childhood life of 24 hours in the scrotum.Sammy then went to the vas deferens highway and stopped to eat at seminal vesicle diner. Sammy was swimming for so long and finally reached the prostate gland acid proofing. Sammy Continued his journey and passed by the C G lube, and went to the urethra expressway. Sammy came to Vagina land and went to the cervix station and travelled to Uterusville from there.Sammy was in Uterusville for 2 whole days. Sammy then went to Oviduct Road and met Ms. Ovum. He really liked Ms. Ovum so they went to Ovary Island together. After spending some time at Ovary island they decided to create a home to live in and they were very happy.

Mutation Story

I’m a mutated gene, a gene that causes people to have a skin disorder with wart like things that can be anywhere on your body. There was mutations in the ever1 or ever2 genes on chromosomes 17q25, which due to a defect of cell-mediated immunity. This disease was cause from an infection with the human papillomvirus, HPV for short.

My host got these flat wart-like lesions all over there body, they were light pink to violet in color and had a scaly surface.

My host got this disease when they were 20 years old, she was worried that she was gonna get cancer on sun-exposed areas. As time went on her warts got redder and more purple and spreader to larger spots on the body. She found out there was a cure. cryotherapy are used in the treatment of benign and premalignant skin lesions. Surgery is also indicated for treatment of malignant lesions. If skin grafting is necessary, the graft should be from sun-protected skin.

The making of a mutation story

1) What questions did you need to research in order to create your mutation story?
-What happened to the gene in Epidermodysplasia verruciformis

-What caused  Epidermodysplasia verruciformis To happen on people

-what is one of the main ages of getting Epidermodysplasia verruciformis

2)what new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?

-I just used google search as a digital tool

3)What was the process you used to investigate the topic?

-I just typed in the name of the mutation i was researching and clicked on all the different websites that looked trust worthy of good information.

4)How did you verify and cite the information you found?

-I tried to make it easier for me and other people reading to understand what I was writing and trying to use smaller words instead of words I can’t even pronounce.

5)How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?

-I think it went ok. It was challenging to find what happened to the gene . Could’ve described the things better, but that was hard.

The genetic code is a three letter word called the DNA triplets, converted from the DNA to the ribosomes by the RNA. the genetic code is the information that contains the things about you, like your skin, eye and hair colour and your personality. 4 letter alphabet of the DNA are combined together to make codons, the DNA is too big to exit the nucleus from its pores and ribosomes can’t get into the nucleus, the RNA takes codons from genes to the ribosomes where the codons are turned to amino acids which make proteins.

What is DNA?

DNA is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms. DNA is mostly in the nucleus. DNA makes you who you are.

Explain the following parts of the model represent:

Before we twisted the double helix:

After we twisted the double helix:

Licorice: The licorice was used as the backbone

Marshmallows: The marshmallow was used for the nitrogenous base.

Green marshmallows– Guanine

Pink Marshmallows– Cytosine

Yellow Marshmallows– Thymine

Orange Marshmallows– Adenine

Yes I think it taught me well of what the double helix is and what the parts are.

BC Power Story

Hydroelectric Power:

Hydro electric power is energy coming from running water and is transffered from a rotating turbine to generate power.

Kerr Dam

Thermal Generation:

heat is used to change water into steam in a boiler. Steam drives the turbine and this drives the generator to produce electricty.

image

Some of the power plants make energy from coal,water or wind, but mostly natural gases. The power is sent through transformers to increase the voltage and to go a longer distance. The electrical charge goes through high voltage transmission lines that stretch across the country. Thee energy reaches a substation to lower the voltage so it can enter our neighborhoods. Where there is smaller transformers, it reduces the power so it can then go into our homes safely. It connects to your house through the amount of power your using.

Hydroelectric Dam:

Potential energy is stored behind the dam and it is converted to kinetic energy when the water starts flowing. The kinetic energy is used to turn a turbine.

Pro’s                                             Con’s

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-Its renewable                           -Expensive
-Good for enviroment             -Water droughts
-Safe                                            -Limited rservoirs
Thermal Power Plants:
Thermal power is heated water into steam. Converting the water into steam they burn the fossils feuls such as coal,oil and diesel. The processes requires turbines or electrical generators.
-Fossil feuls are the easiest source of energy     -Polution
-Well developed and up to date                            -Non-renewable recources
Science App Review
The app that I have chosen is call chem pro. I would rate it 6/10    image
Is there a periodic table? 5/5
Yes. It is located underneath the tools section. It’s an interactive periodic table and the information is very easy to find.
image
Does it provide definitions? 5/5
Yes. The definitions are in the tutorial video
image
Does it give you tutorials? 5/5
Yes. The tutorials are made in a video and describes it very well
image
Does it quiz you and keep score? 1/5
There’s flash cards in the free area but does not keep score. Doesn’t do good job at quizzing. There may be some in the lessons that cost money.
Is it easy to use? 4/5
Yes. Easy to navigate and it’s very organized.
Does it provide compound descriptions? 3/5
Yes. But only can if you pay for an upgrade
Is it free? 1/5
The app is free but some of the lessons cost money. It cost 5.95 per lesson and there are 80 lessons
