Interviewing Caleb Castellon:
Caleb Castellon is a famous photographer and Photoshop artist on the internet. His photos are beautiful and mesmerizing to look at, as he incorporates many vibrant colours and lights in his pictures. As I am quite interested i phtotgraphy I decided to reach out to him in hopes he could answer a few of my questions.
Before I get to the questions here are a few of my favourite pictures taken by him:
Why are you passionate about your job?
“I get a lot of inspiration from my family, friends as well as online audiences. I love photography more than anything.”
What obstacles have you faced to get you to where you are today?
“Finding clients can get difficult for me as I live in a very rural area, I’m assuming others would’t have as much as a problem with this. Also finding new ideas is quite challenging for me. I tend to be repetitive with my ideas and it is hard for me to overcome.”
What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing?
“My advice would be to practice, practice and practice. Everything I learned was from trial and error and trying new things which is so very very important.”
What is it like working with so many different people?
“Working with different clients is truly the best. It’s never overwhelming because I absolutely love working with different people because I”m not used to such diversity living in a small town.”
How do you ensure you never get bored of your passion if you do it as a job every day?
“This kind of relates to a previous answer where I mentioned trying new things. That pretty much ensures that I’ll never get bored with my craft because there’s so many possibilities out there.”
During this interview I learned about different ways to pursue a career in photography, it was great to learn from someone with the same passion as me but is doing it as a full-time job instead of simply a hobby. This interview really motivated me to try new ideas and be creative while taking photos.
This interview opened an enlightened my knowledge into the world of photography, more so the career route and making a living off of your passion. I am grateful for the tips Calob gave me and hope that it can help others trying to pursue photography as a career.
