On January 15th our science class decided to have a skype call a with someone named, Charis Walko. Charis is a stem cell researcher that works with stem cells in Vancouver. She explained to us some of the stuff she does in her job. She explained in detail, how they take a cell and rewind it back to its early stages. She also explained to us how they take a DNA and remove a mutation making it healthy. I thought the experience was education and interesting. I like how we skype chatted her and got to see and hear her explain things. I thought it was much easier to follow along and understand.She talked about pluripotent cells and how she works with them. The point of the chat was to ask question about cells, me and my partners question was; “What types of diseases can be treated with Stem Cells”

Another question that was asked “What is the biggest controversy with stem cells”
Her answer was the embryonic stem cells controversy, which is the research of embryo cells. There were many thing we learned during this skype chat, one of them being what an adult cell is. In conclusion, this skype call was very educational and interesting, I also learned a lot about the subject of stem cells because of this skype call.
