The Friday Everything Changed

1. The boys are upset because carrying the water bucket to them means that they are stronger that the girls, and that they have more freedom (Getting to leave class, go to a store, do something real). The boys want to keep their “power”.
2. The boys try to bully the girls to pressure them into telling their teacher to ignore the question Alma had asked. The boys had also left the girls out of their baseball game, and teasing. The girls react by standing up to the boys’ bullying and the girls stick together, closer than ever before.
3. The story is told by Alma and a narrator. Ms. Ralston thinks that there should be a gender equality, and that the girls should be able to go out to get the watch if they want to. The story is in first person.
4. The time and place the story takes place is post ww2 time and they would be somewhere around Ontario Canada. For proof, they talked about a German plane flying over, and that the Toronto maple leafs where a liked team. The conflict in the story is Person vs. Society. We know this because they talk about tradition in the story.
5. Alma, because she is the one who asked the question making the plot move.
6. The girls get more strength in themselves at the end of the story. The theme in the story is that everyone should be equal.
