The van der graff is a machine that generates static electricity. It has a vertical band in a tube, that creates friction when it spins around. On top of the band there is a smooth metal sphere that collects the electricity.
I learnt about Van der graffs, because I had never seen or heard of one before. I also learnt about how they work.
I enjoyed watching the small pieces of papper fly out of Kyra’s hand. The papper moved because she was touching the sphere of the van der graff with one hand, allowing the electricity to go into her, then the electricity left her though her hand, causing the paper to move.
