( my phone didn’t save the before picture but it looked the same as the after one except that is was clear, slightly bigger, and the edges were not curled over.)
for this experiment, we drew a design of our choice onto a piece of plastic. after we finished our drawings, they were placed into a toaster oven and baked at 350 degrees for a few minutes. before my drawing went into the oven, the green flower had a dimension of 2.5cm and once it was baked the dimensions of the green flower were 2.2cm. this means that my piece of plastic shrunk by .8%. in the end, my object and my image were similar. there were different types of plastic that we had the option to use. my plastic was number 1. people whos plastic was number 6, theirs shrank a lot and stayed clear while mine turned white. I think that the reason different types of plastic shrank at different rates is because of the mix used to make the plastic and the density of it. if I were to do this experiment again I think that I would use a different number of plastic.
