Week 6 – Applying the Quadratic Formula

This week I learned how to apply the quadratic formula.

First off, you need to determine A, B and C, from there plug them into the quadratic formula, then use BEDMAS from there. I prefer to use the quadratic formula because you just throw in the “a, b and c” and just go on from there, but mostly because there isn’t many difficult steps and it’s harder to make mistakes compared to trying to complete the square.

Week 5 – Factoring Polynomial Expressions

This week I learned how to factor polynomials. I usually start by finding what adds to the 2nd term and multiplies to get the 3rd term. I found it was -2 and 9. This works the best if there isn’t a coefficient in the 1st term. If there is a coefficient when factoring, you can include it one of the brackets. To check if you’re correct, then foil what you got, and if it equals to the original questions, then you know that you’re correct!

What Darwin Never knew

The discovery of DNA has proven Darwin’s theory. Since Darwin has seen that most species have similar physical characteristics, but it’s confirmed because of the similar DNA sequences between different species.  The discovery of DNA has changed how everyone sees evolution in present day, because we can see where most species originated from and what it’s past ancestors were. With DNA, scientists can try to recreate extinct species with their DNA codes.
