I think racism is still around but it more verbal than actions, back then the southerners would make them sit at the back of the bus and make them slaves because they had nothing else to do, now it’s just more of calling people n-words and the odd joke about their skin colour. Sure some things are still around like the KKK, but they aren’t as big as they were back then, now we don’t have slaves and all people in North America have equal rights so no one can complain about sitting at the back of the bus and being a slave.
