First peoples principles

The two main first people principles that we looked at was sustainability and interconnectedness, both of these first peoples principles are related to what we learned this year in our science units

sustainability

sustainability by definition is the ability to maintain at a certain lever or rate, in our most recent unit we learned about spheres of the earth that is what we want to maintain so that our future generations can continue to live on this planet without having to worry about thing like global warming. sustainability leads into interconnectedness which i will now go over

interconnectedness

the idea of interconnectedness is that everything is connected for example if there are no more salmon because humans were too greedy the bears would not have food to eat which means they will starve and if the bears die off that will have a huge impact on the ecosystem in the area, so therefore we have to be sustainability on out planet so that all species can survive

mutation story

 Part 1)

I am a gene inside Samantha’s body she was diagnosed with turner syndrome. It is a syndrome that only affects females and happens from a gene defect of the second female sex chromosome. You can tell if a girl has turner syndrome because there are many symptoms, puffiness or swelling of their hands and feet, poor growth, folds of skin around their neck, low hair line at the backs of their necks, one third to half of girls that have turner syndrome are born with heart defects. Girls with turner syndrome have a higher chance of developing other medical problems. Girls who are diagnosed with turner syndrome won’t be able to do things most people can do. Scientists say the turner is not inherited

Part 2)

How common is it for girls to get turner syndrome?

Are girls with turner syndrome more likely to develop other diseases?

What are symptoms that girls will have if their diagnosed with turner syndrome?

Can girls with turner syndrome do every day thing that a regular person can do?

Some tools that I used to get this information: Ebsco, google, destiny

The process I used to get this information: the method I used was if I came across an article that I though was good I would read through it and pick out the information that I thought would be most useful

Verify: I knew that most of the information I was getting was already true and valid because I used Ebsco which is a trusted source and for the rest I would go onto other websites and check the information that I already had.

What could I have done better: I could have used more websites the check my information

Define

The problem that I face is that any time I want to find something out about an element I must first do multiple searches, to find out things like melting point, boiling point, density, the year it was discovered which takes up too much time where I could be improving my project in other ways.

Dream

So, what I am going to attempt to do is find an app that will help me in all these areas, and help me find the information that I need faster and more efficiently and that might even have bonus information that I could use to further improve my project

Deliver

After a while of searching I finally found an app called periodic table 2017, since this app was made in 2017 I know that it is rather knew and that I most like has up to date and trust worthy information that I can be used to help me in science. What this app helps me do is instead of looking through various websites and doing multiple google searches I can simply go onto the app find the element that in need information on, click on it and then I have more than enough information that I need to make a thorough and detailed description of the element

The way the app helps me learn about the element is that when I go into a specific element I have can see information like the Latin name, what group it belongs in like alkaline earth or alkaline or halogen and noble gas, the year it was discovered, atomic weight, density, melting point, boiling point, period/group, electron configuration and much more information that that would take a very long time to find individually

Debrief

This app is a great app for the most part if I had to rate it out of 10 I would give it a 9/10 because it gives you more information than you would need for most project or assignments, some of the things that could have been better is the people who designed the app could have just put a short intro video at the beginning when you first open the app to give you a better understanding of how to use it, but once you figure it out it is a very user friendly and great app.
