Week 3- Pre Calculus 11

In this week of pre-calc 11 class our subject was about “Absolute Value and Radicals”. First lesson was about absolute value.

Absolute value is something like brackets but it’s a little bit different because it gives us a number’s distance from zero. The symbol of absolute value is: |x|

What I found out about absolute value is that we can count it as a positive machine. It means that every number comes out of this machine in positive form. Also, about parameters I figured out that If a parameter is positive it comes out of this machine like itself, but if the parameter is negative it comes out with an opposite sign.

1). x≥0 , |x|=x        2). x<0 , |x|=-x

Example:

1) |3|= 3              2) |-8|= +8              3) |6+5|= 11              4) |6-17|= |-11|= +11
